Kirby Medical Center is pleased to present a new service within our Outpatient Therapy Department designed to help those living with lung disease breathe easier –Phase II and Phase III Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Phase II Pulmonary Rehabilitation is an individualized outpatient exercise program designed for the symptomatic pulmonary patient. The program meets twice a week and the patient may wear a heart monitor while exercising. Participants receive information about respiratory anatomy and physiology, breathing retraining, bronchial hygiene, relaxation methods, nutrition, oxygen delivery and respiratory medication instruction.
Phase III Pulmonary Rehabilitation is an outpatient maintenance program for persons who have completed Phase II Pulmonary Rehabilitation or who have qualifying respiratory disorders. Participants monitor their progress under the supervision of the rehabilitation staff.
Staffed by an exercise physiologist and a registered nurse with consultation by a respiratory therapist all with ACLS certification, the program is designed to educate the patient to assist in living a normal, productive life.
