Do you ever wonder what it’s like as a member of Emergency Medical Services? This article will give a deep dive on the EMS team at Kirby Medical Center.
Kirby's EMS team is conducted by 19 members. Of these 19 members there are 12 full time staff, 6 prn’s and a director. Kirby's team has both paramedics and EMTS who work a 24hr on / 48hr off rotation.
Once our EMS team receives a call, they hop into one of their three ALS ambulances and head to the scene with their average arrival time being eight minutes.
Kirby has three ALS ambulances and one response truck, with two ambulances running 24 hours a day. Each ambulance is equipped with Video Laryngoscopes, Zoll Cardiac monitors, LUCAS CPR device, IV pumps, Ventilators, Suction devices, Advanced medications, powered cots and load.
Through all of this equipment our EMS team helps 2,500 patients a year!
Saving lives is not the only thing that our EMS team does. With 8 of our 19 staff members living in Monticello, community is very important to Kirby. Our EMS team does community CPR classes as well as Adopt - A - Medic programs.
From everyone at Kirby Medical Center, we want to give a huge shoutout to our EMS workers!
