During the school year, Kirby Ambulance is proud to present monthly educational sessions to the 2nd-grade classrooms of Monticello and surrounding school districts. Each session covers a variety of important topics, including:
The primary goal of this program is to help children become comfortable with first responders, emergency tools and equipment in the event they are ever exposed to it. Additionally, we aim to change behaviors to prevent emergencies proactively. Feedback from previous students has shown that the material presented is both absorbed and utilized, making this program an asset to the community of Piatt County.
At the end of the year, we conclude our presentations with a “Touch a Truck” grand finale. This exciting event features a police car, fire truck, ambulance, a K9 unit, and helicopter. Students have the opportunity to interact with the vehicles and ask the various first responders questions they may have.
We are honored to have the opportunity to serve the Bement, Cerro Gordo, and Monticello school districts through this impactful program.
