Athletic Training for Student Athletes

Kirby Medical Center is proud to build strong community relationships with area schools to provide high-quality healthcare to young athletes and students.

Our athletic trainers have graduated from an accredited college program and hold medical licenses to practice in the state of Illinois. These professionals encompass various responsibilities with student-athletes, including:

  • Evaluate musculoskeletal and general medical conditions
  • Design individualized exercise plans
  • Aid in reducing the risk of injuries
  • Diagnose and treat sports-related injuries
  • Equip with appropriate nutrition

KMC’s Athletic Trainers (ATs) provide coverage during youth practices and sporting events. When unexpected moments occur with an athlete lying motionless on the field/track/court, one of the trained ATs is the first person to respond to the emergency. The Athletic Trainer will provide hands-on support while safely removing the athlete’s equipment, bracing injuries, and stabilizing the athlete to determine the next steps to address the injury.

KMC supports the following schools with Athletic Trainers

  • DeLand-Weldon, Eagles
  • Argenta Oreana, Bombers
